Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes, basic swimming ability is required for safety. You don't need to be a strong swimmer — if you're comfortable in open water and can swim without a flotation device, you're ready for a beginner course.
-
No. Freediving is about relaxation and a calm nervous system, not fitness. Being in great shape doesn't make you a better freediver — managing your breathing and your mind does. We've had completely untrained students progress remarkably well.
-
Yes, when taught properly. We work with certified instructors, groups of three students maximum, a strict buddy system, and safety on every dive. We check swell, wind, visibility and currents daily and reschedule or move location if a session shouldn't happen. If we have to cancel and can't reschedule, you don't pay.

Discover Freediving (1 day, €95) is a one-day introduction with no certification — it's the same as the first day of the Level 1 course. The Freediver Level 1 course (2 days, €195) adds a second day and ends with an Apnea Total, Molchanovs or SSI certification. You can start with Discover and roll into day two if you want to continue.
-
Our standard is Apnea Total. Molchanovs is available with a €30 extra fee, SSI on request. All three are internationally recognised and let you continue training with any freediving school in the world. You can decide on your first day — ask your instructor which one fits your plans.

A swimsuit, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle. Bring a waterproof bag and towel if you have them. We provide all freediving gear — wetsuit, mask, fins, weights, noseclip. You can leave your things safely in the office during the session.

Yes. Surf camp guests get access to our surf-specific apnea workshops and breath-control training as part of the camp program. Full freediving courses run on camp days off or after the camp ends. Mention it when you message — we help you fit it into your stay.

Nusa Penida is one of the best next stops — reef diving and manta ray trips. We recommend our sister school Freediving Penida (freedivingpenida.com) for freediving, and Pure Dive Resort (purediveresort.com) for scuba. We can also connect you to schools elsewhere in Indonesia — just ask.
